Derby double edged DE blades are an excellent all round razor blade. These blades work very well in Merkur razors and are a little more forgiving than the Feather blades and more similar to Merkurs own blade.

Best blade I've tried
I've tried out a few different blades that come with the sample packs. Derby was noticeably the sharpest and also lasted pretty well, I get two to three shaves per blade. I've read on various forums that different people are suited to different blades, and with that in mind I can't say that derby will be the best blade for you however I would recommend you give it a try if you haven't yet.

Good basic blade
I started with these (came with the EJ razor) and tried some from my sampler pack later. Every time the shave was an effective, easy one - sufficient cut, gentle enough touch. I used a DE89BA11 and cream lather. These definitely worked for me (and my razor), but I've found other blades to provide an even sharper and faster shave.
