Merkur 15c Open Comb Razor

I use Merkur 15C to shave whole head and beard. It good for thick hair so open comb did not jammed in razor. I need only two times for head and only one for face. Soft and smooth shaving.

This lightweight open comb razor from Merkur gives an extremely close shave even if you pair it with a more forgiving blade like a Derby. It is on the mild end of aggressive safety razors - however put a Feather blade it in it and you better show it some respect. Overall I’m very happy with it, although it wouldn’t be an everyday razor being on the more aggressive side, but it’s perfect if you have a heavier growth of hair. Would recommend it.

I have had this razor for about 8 years. I used it daily for the first couple of years. I still use it sporadically. It shaves closer than the Merkur 34 that I started my DE career with. It is not aggressive. I use it if I have not shaved for a few days, the slant razor I normally use is not good at removing long stubble. It is good for shaving body hair, my wife uses it to shave her legs. If you have a tough beard, or do not shave every day then this is the razor for you. I use mine with Feather blades.

Had my 1st shave with the 15c today and it was better than I've ever had before. Previously I had an Edwin Jagger DE 89 11 Ball End which is also an excellent razor. I don't know if it was because I was extremely careful with the 15c because it was my 1st open comb shave but there was absolutely no irritation or burn after the shave. My alum block hardly stung when applied. I'm glad I went for an open comb but I have to say the Merkur isn't as well made as the Edwin Jagger. It's a pity Edwin Jagger dint seem to make open combs.

My €200 Feather Stainless has been in the drawer for months now. The 15C, with a Feather blade, is all I need.

I just received the Merkur 15c and a sample pack of blades. Having come from a Muhle R89 (fantastic razor also) I was a bit scared about the open comb. No need as the 15c is a beautiful, balanced, smooth and close razor. It is amazing.

Out of curiosity I bought one of these, I generally shave with a straight razor, but this is amazing! Incredible shave, no nicks or cuts and no razor burn! I would highly recommend this!

I have used this razor twice and it provides a very close shave indeed. This will reward a slow careful shave, amply. 12 hours after shaving my face is just starting to re sprout. Impressed!
