The Merkur 39C features a slant bar head and the very desirable Merkur "Barber Pole" knurled long handle. Slant bars are considered to give the ultimate close shave but require good technique so they typically suit the more experienced shaver. The combination of the heavy slant head and the long handle make sure the razor dose all the hard work. Finished in mirrored chrome the 39C provides a close shave and excellent design.

Super sledgehammer
I can simply describe this razor as super efficient! It does really excellent job on heavy, thick beards! I have shaved with Muhle r89, oldschool german open comb razor, Muhle r41 and now superbly designed Merkur 39c, and this razor does the best job of them all! Muhle r89 is a little too mild for heavy beards, while Muhle r41 shaves off beards really well and is a beast of a razor, it also can bite and might not be the everyday choice, while Merkur 39c does just as good a job (if not even better) as r41, it does not irritate the skin and does not get you razor burns. You can get a really smooth shave with only 2 passes and you can definitely shave with it every day! Do not believe the myths, that it is too aggressive for beginners! If you have a thick beard, this is the most efficient, yet pretty forgiving and smooth razor, simply WOW! What are you waiting for?! Go for it!

Very smooth
I usually shave with the Muhle R89, but wanted to try a slant in order to confirm that this type to razor does in fact deliver a smooth shave. I shave each day except at the weekend. I find it indeed smoother than my Muhle and with no need of extra amount of skills in order to perform a decent shave. I find it even more forgiven that the Muhle, despite being heavier and its larger head. I my opinion the neck zone will feel the biggest improvement over other razor types, especially for sensitive skins (like me). It's well built and easier to clean than the Muhle. Very much recommended for those with sensitive skin.

Very Good
really well built and well balanced razor. It's bit of a different experience to a straight razor very little resistance, takes a little while to get used of if you have been using a closed comb for a number of years despite people saying slants are aggressive I find it gentler on the skin would definitely recommend

Very very good razor
The 39C works very well. I used it 7 times, every two or three days. It is a very good razor.

Great Shaver
I bought this razor after reading positive reviews on different forums . My expectations were not disappointed. It performs a deep, comfortable shave , aggressive but more comfortable than a Muhle R41 . Put a sharp blade , zero pressure (let the long handle makes the work) and let this beast performs its magic. One of my favorite razors!

Brilliant
Unbelievable!....I received one of these razors today @ 11:15am. Initially I thought that I'll be using this razor this weekend, but I couldn't resist the temptation. Although I was in a hurry, I said to myself that I'll do a two pass shave.I loaded a feather blade, and what started as a 2 pass shave, ended up as a 3 pass Brilliant shave!!! and @ 11:47 I was out the door. I wonder if any of those open comb more expensive razors could do a finer shave?! Thank you shaving.ie.
